In this installation, Asabea uses herself and other materials found in the environment of a Ghanaian woman to showcase the “Heat Moment” as well as the appreciation of the woman. She poses herself in front of a sacrificial altar she created with well-arranged firewood. Beneath the altar is a continuous burning flame with smoke. On the altar, she arranges different types of wearables worn mostly by the Ghanaian woman. Some of which are shoes, jewellery, dresses, clothes and headgears.
The wearables are displayed on the sacrificial altar creating a sensation of a continuous sacrifice which she identifies with the Ghanaian woman and also herself. To her, the task of the ordinary and the ideal Ghanaian woman demands a lot of sacrifices and as such needs a cool and calm environment. The cool environment is represented in the work with various pots filled with water and calabashes ready to serve. As Asabea sits being part of her work, she entertains and encourages herself with songs, accompanied by musical instruments. This she called self-encouragement and appreciation which every woman needs to do because of the “Heat Moment”.
